Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and the direction of the Registered Nurse, the certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) is responsible for specific performing specific duties that support patient care, which includes direct and indirect patient care activities that are essential to providing a safe and efficient care environment.
The CPCT performs technical and selected treatments, procedures and activities that contribute to providing comprehensive care to patients.
The CPCT, along with the care team, is responsible for ensuring a positive patient experience.
The role performs in a high activity work environment with multiple priorities.
Responsibilities:
Assist the RN and the nursing care team by performing nursing care measure that contribute to the daily management of patient care.
Upholds infections prevention standards.
Performs and assist with direct patient care:
bathing, grooming, oral/ dental care, perineal, toileting, elimination, feeding, positioning, repositioning and ambulation.
Performs technical procedures:
Phlebotomy, EKG testing, specimen collection, urinary catheter and intravenous catheter removal and bladder scanning.
Obtains and records vital signs using electronical medical record.
Reports deviations and changes in patient status in a timely manner to the RN.
Assists in maintaining a clinical environmental that is clean, safe and free from clutter.
Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
At least 1 year of nurse assistant experience in an acute care setting.
Licensure, Certification, Registration:
Certified Patient Care Technician/ Assistant (CPCT/ A) and maintained thereafter.
Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
